What is a Foot Health Practitioner?
Foot Health Practitioners undertake routine foot care and treat common foot conditions. Loretta can cut toenails & fingernails, provide diabetic health checks, treat corns, calluses, cracked heels, fungal nail infections & Athlete's Foot, thickened nails and ingrown toenails.
All instruments are thoroughly cleaned using an ultrasonic cleaner, before being sterilised using an autoclave steam steriliser to kill bacteria (and their spores), fungi and viruses, thus preventing any risk of cross-patient contamination.
Foot Health Practitioner’s work closely with other health professionals making referrals to GPs when necessary. Any foot care treatments beyond the remit of a Foot Health Practitioner, for example, nail surgery requiring anaesthetic or biomechanics advice, would be referred to a Podiatrist.
What training does a FHP undertake?
Loretta trained for her Diploma in Foot Health at the SMAE Institute in Maidenhead, one of the oldest training institutes for Podiatrists, Chiropodists and Foot Health Practitioners in the UK, credit rated by Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. She is a Member of The British Association of Foot Health Professionals (MAFHP).
Loretta also undertakes regular Continued Professional Development (CPD) training to keep her professional skills and knowledge up to current standards and is a Member of the College of Foot Health Practitioners (MCFHP).
Loretta also undertakes First Aid in the Workplace training every 3 years.
